Have you been researching different detox facilities, for yourself or someone that you love, only to find that none of them really met your expectations? Are you worried about how difficult, challenging, and even dangerous that detox could be? There’s nothing easy about detox. It can be one of the toughest times in a person’s life. However, when your detox is overseen by trained medical professionals and physicians, you can make it through safely and securely, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing it wasn’t as rough as it could have been. That’s just one of the benefits of Incidental Medical Services (IMS) at our Los Angeles Treatment Center.
What It Means
During detoxification and treatment from substance use disorder, any number of medical issues could arise. IMS makes it possible for top-quality physicians to treat our clients on-site. They don’t just do this every now and then – our IMS staff is ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Moreover, they offer a wide spectrum of medical services as well. Essentially, they’re here to further ensure that our patients are safe throughout the entirety of the detoxification process.
By Your Side
Initially, the IMS staff will obtain a patient’s entire medical history and perform a thorough assessment of the patient’s health. From there, they closely observe and physically check each patient for at least the first 72 hours every thirty minutes. For many, they keep up that same pace for the entirety of the patient’s stay in detox – whichever is longer. Once a patient has reached the Residential Treatment Center level of care, rounds will be conducted every single hour. This continues until the resident patient has been successfully discharged.
Why It Can Be So Important
Basically, the IMS helps to ensure that the patient is getting the appropriate care and treatment for their needs. This can be discerned through the physical checks, of course, but also through consistent lab testing and thorough evaluations (covering physical as well as mental health). Additionally, a physician can advise and/or make recommendations as to what (if any) prescribed or over-the-counter medications a patient should and can take. Furthermore, they work with medical professionals to coordinate care as is relevant to any complex conditions that may impact the resident patient’s success in treatment.
Our Los Angeles Treatment Center is Ready to Help
The IMS program is really just one of the ways that we help our patients to have the best treatment experience possible. Fundamentally, we do not believe that the detoxification and rehab process should be a punishment. Rather, it should be a time of building coping skills, utilizing living skills, learning about what harm reduction really can do, and redefining the motives and passions for living a healthy, sober, happy, and ultimately fulfilling life. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, we can help. To get started or just to learn more, call 818-839-4994.
