Incidental Medical Services (IMS)
Rise Wellness Center provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS) that address medical issues associated with detoxification and/or the provision of treatment from substance use disorder. The goal of IMS is to enhance the safety of treatment services by allowing physicians to treat clients on site for the above-mentioned services. IMS allows us to employ quality medical staff and offer a wider breadth of medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. IMS does not provide general primary medical care. IMS is a new supplemental service under our current Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) license. The following are the six core areas of IMS:
1. Treating Substance Abuse Disorders Including Detoxification
IMS will be provided by, or under the supervision of, one or more physicians licensed by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board who are knowledgeable about addiction medicine. Additionally, services can be provided by other health care practitioners acting within the scope of their practice/competence of his or her license and under the direction of Rise Wellness Center’s physician.
2. Obtaining Medical Histories
In order to provide tailored treatment, a comprehensive and timely assessment is required. While we guide you through the admissions process, we can now collect health care questionnaires in person. Each form will then be reviewed and signed by a physician or nurse practitioner to confirm its accuracy. Once we understand your personal medical history, we can provide more targeted and effective care options.
3. Monitoring Health Status
Our incidental medical services provide a high premium on safety. We keep track of each client admitted to our institution by physically checking on them regularly throughout their treatment. We will remain by your side to monitor your vitals and determine whether you should be transferred to a higher level of care if you start to experience any alarming withdrawal symptoms or medical problems.
4. Testing Associated With Detoxification From Drugs Or Alcohol
Our medical team offers a broad range of testing services related to your detoxification, including breathalyzer tests to detect blood alcohol levels, urine-based drug tests, and numerous laboratory analyses.
5. Providing Alcoholism Or Drug Abuse Recovery Or Treatment Services
The detoxification process necessitates a great deal of coordination and planning among healthcare specialists. Our on-site staff will gladly collaborate with your existing physicians and outside care providers to find the optimal treatment plan for your specific needs and identify any conditions that could impact the effectiveness of your therapy. Then, as we continue to monitor your drug reaction, we can make adjustments in real-time.
6. Supervising Resident-Administered Medications
If you are taking prescription or over-the-counter medication, you can continue to take it at our facility so as long it does not interfere with your detox. We will keep an eye on your self-administered medication use and, if required, assist you in finding alternatives that aren’t as likely to be abused.
